Sponsored by Failte Ireland, the squad's two gold medals were won by Velan Subramanian and Kumar Deivendra, both Pastry Chefs from the Moran's Red Cow Hotel, Dublin. Velan's medal was for the construction a four-tier wedding cake and Kumar won his for the creation of a castle from salt dough.
Jack Charlton pictured at the Moran's Red Cow Hotel to wish the teams every success at the competitions. The Junior team won its 10 silver medals in the hot kitchen, team buffet and the salon kitchen section while the senior team won twelve bronze medals in the hot kitchen section, twelve in the buffet section and the two individual gold medals in the pastry section.
